My Found Poem

Devouring (23) Our (7) Lives (33)
Night had fallen (15)
I fled (13)
The Gestapo had threatened to shoot the Jewish people (11)
Fear (9) and terror (23) surrounded me (11)
Anguish and death were in our town (7)
Disturbing news was (7) everywhere (15)
The Angel of Death (31) was here (7)
Our (7) lives crying (33) forever (27)
I am very excited and looking foward to meeting the Holocaust survivors on Monday. I think that the experience will be very rewarding and that I will learn so much from these brave people. Two questions that i would ask the survivors to learn more about them and the Holocaust would be:
1. Before you were sent to the camps, were you given any cautions or
warnings to the troubles that lied ahead?
2. What was your first emotion when you got out of the camps?

  1. Moaty: Your Found Poem is terrific. I like the title and the last line especially. It's an amazing piece considering the words and thoughts connect and they are from pages all over the memoir. I also really like your last question to the survivors. I know you all will get so much out of meeting them.

  2. Your poem is amazing! You really showed what the captives were going through. Just like Mrs. Collentine, I really like your last line. Even if the people survived, they would never be able to forget what they had been through, therefore, they would cry.
I wonder if there were any signs about the troubled future for the captives.

  3. Your title pretty much sums up the entire poem, and the poem itself was brilliant. It gave detail to what the Jews' situation was, and therefore, the emotions that surrounded them. Just as Mrs. Collentine and Kayleigh said above, I liked the last line.
I also thought your first question was very interesting. Great job!
